I was fifteen years old when I initially began writing this series. Back then it was called "The Streets of Brooklyn", and the characters were all high school kids coming of age in Brooklyn, New York. The story centered around an R&B group called The Streets of Brooklyn and it dealt with some common issues that teenagers face when trying to live in an adult world. At first I was very passionate about the series until one day I just stopped writing it. That was in 1995 when I started college and had less time to focus on it. I had just outgrown the story and was looking to start something new and challenging. | One random day in 2007 I came up with writer's block on another project I was working on, so I switched gears. I pulled out all those old notebooks and began rewriting the series with an adult twist. That was how East to West Records Presents: Urband Legend came about. Suddenly I was reunited with old characters I had forgotten about and my passion for the series returned. I later wrote the second novel the same year and began a spin-off series entitled, "The Orisha Wars," which is more edgy and geared more towards the street-lit crowd. So I introduce to you a project over 15 years in the making. |
